Floyd County Police Department
Charges Filed for Large Stolen Property Case
March 1, 2009


The Floyd County Police Department filed charges against Shane M. McCain of New Albany for multiple counts of receiving stolen property and multiple counts of possession of property with altered identification numbers.     

Floyd County Police Detective Captain Jeff Topping is leading the investigation on this case.  The case started with a confidential informant providing details about the stolen items to the Floyd County Police Department.  Sheriff Darrell Mills said that this is one of the largest amounts of stolen property that we have recovered in a long time in Floyd County.
We have recovered more than $125,000 in property including a New Holland Skid Steer valued at $50,000.  Other items recovered include: 1992 GMC pickup, 2002 Southwest enclosed trailer, 2000 Felling trailer, 2007 load trailer.   Property was also recovered at McCain's residences on Davis Drive, Woodrow Ave, and US-150 in Greenville.   
Detective Captain Jeff Topping advises if anyone has purchased lawn equipment and/or other types of equipment from Shane McCain (or who have items missing) contact us at 812-948-5407 (Criminal Investigation Division).
