It is that wonderful time of year again --- We celebrate the bounty of
the harvest & anticipate the upcoming holiday season. We will also
share in community as the Highland Oaks Homeowners Association with an
afternoon/evening of fun for the whole family again this year on
October 24th 4p-?????.
The HOA will provide hot dogs/bratwursts, buns, condiments, chips &
pretzels, s'mores supplies as well as paper products & a few other
additions as the budget allows. There will be an inflatable play
station, small pumpkins for decorating, lawn games, chili cook-off & a
bonfire.
What is needed is good weather(let's all cross our fingers for a DRY,
moderate week/day) & VOLUNTEERS!!! I am looking for set-up/tear down
help, children's crafts supervision, adult supervision at the
inflatable in shifts(4p to dusk), & 2 Fire Marshals. The crafts table
supervisors will assist any child with painting, cleaning, use of
scissors, etc... as needed. To insure the safety of ALL children in
the inflatable, an adult is being sought to be present at all times.
There will be about 4 hours of daylight historically. Hence, 4
volunteers are being requested as to allow for everyone to enjoy the
activites of the day. Last but not least, we need 2 experienced
pyromaniacs. The fire-pit is an absolute mess right now as it has
become the dead/unsightly landscaping dumping ground for our
neighbors!!! It is full of dead shrubs, ornamental grass & only the
Lord knows how much water or other waste. The pyromaniacs need to
clear this area (or the guilty parties involved can feel free to
remove their debris themselves), provision wood from the surrounding
area (if we need to purchase some dry, non-green wood - please let me
now immediately so I can budget accordingly), provide ignition
requirements (paper, gasoline, tools), & a fire extinguisher. A event
of this magnitude does not come without its planning & organization
--- please help me provide memories for our neighbors as I am only 1
person. All the homeowners participating are being asked to bring
their own chairs, beverages, favorite dish to share, chili entry if
participating (There is a $25 gift card & bragging rights for the next
year at stake.) and their appetite for fun. Individual invitations
will be distributed within the next week to every home. If you are
willing to volunteer for any of the above positions, please reply via
e-mail or feel free to call me at 812-949-2708 as soon as possible.
Thank you & looking forward to having a great social!!
