MINUTES OF THE HIGHLAND OAKS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION A regular meeting of the full association membership of the above association was called to order on December 18, 1997 at 7:10 p.m. by president Steve Hammel. This was the first meeting held at an offsite location, the Clark County REMC building, Sellersburg, Indiana. 1. BLOCK WATCH. Lieutenant Frank Luke with the Floyd County Sheriff’s office was present to discuss the Block Watch program and answer questions about how to reduce crime in the area. He spoke for about one and one-half hours offering advice and describing the various law enforcement programs in our area. He also talked some on fire protection and advised all those who are able to join the volunteer fire department. He informed the residents that we are serviced by the “Enhanced 911” system, which means that there is no need for the caller to identify where they are calling from in an emergency. The caller’s name, address, and additional information will appear automatically on the 911 operator’s screen. 2. WASTE MANAGEMENT. The representative from Waste Management who was scheduled to speak with us was not present at the meeting. Steve briefly described the special offer that Waste Management made to Highland Oaks. Most residents Steve has spoken with seem to be in favor of signing on to take advantage of the offer. 3. 1998 HOME EXPO. Greg Furnish formally announced that Highland Oaks would be one of the sites for the 1998 Southern Indiana Homebuilders’ Home Expo. The other site will be at Wind Dance Farms. The Highland Oaks site will display 12 or 13 homes, 5 of which have already been sold. The 5.5 acre park will be landscaped and finished in time for the Expo, complete with walking trails and foot bridges over the creek. Greg has filed formal complaint forms against the house across from the original model to get it completed and the lot cleaned up in time for the show. The police alliance will be hired to provide security in the new section during the show. Lot prices in phase II range from $23,900 to $26,900 and are selling very well. Outlook for the show is very promising. The dates will be July 10th through the 19th (this is about a week prior to Louisville’s show, which should help boost attendance). The meeting was closed at 9:23 by Steve Hammel. _______________________________________ Byron Graham Secretary |
