 MINUTES OF THE

 HIGHLAND OAKS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

A regular meeting of the full association membership of the above association was called to order on December 8, 1998 at  7 p.m. by vice-president Greg Snyder. This meeting was held at the Clark County REMC building, Sellersburg, Indiana.

This was the final quarterly meeting scheduled for 1998.

1.     REGIONAL ISSUES.  It was announced that the proposed rezoning at the corner of Mel Smith and Kamer Miller Roads was denied. A variance was being sought to allow a mini-storage facility to be constructed on that corner. Residents were also informed that a sewer rate hike had been approved at a meeting the prior week. More information would be sought on this topic. A discussion also ensued to remind people that they can contact the water company to request ‘summer’ rates that will significantly lower water bills. Also, owners were encouraged to file mortgage and homestead exemptions at the county office to save money on taxes.

2.     ASSOCIATION ISSUES. The officers sent a registered letter to Greg Furnish concerning several neighborhood issues, including the condition of the park and walking track (blacktop is already crumbling). No response was received at the time of this meeting. Bids have been solicited from various landscaping contractors to maintain the front entry area. A new building committee was announced composed of Jim Hitchcock, Greg Reger, and Bob McIlvoy. They will attempt to monitor and enforce violations to the neighborhood restrictions (the lot at 4017 Weatherby was seeded in the front rather than sod).

3.     FRONT DECORATIONS. Anyone wishing to help decorate the front entry for Christmas should meet Steve there at 10:30 on Saturday morning (12/12/98) or 12:30 Sunday in the event of rain.

4.     TREASURER REPORT. Jeff was not present to submit a report. Greg announced that Jeff would be placing 1999 invoices in mailboxes soon to collect membership dues.

5.     VARIOUS OTHER. Discussion of cars parked habitually on streets. ‘Stub’ roads will not connect with other developments, they are just there because of county code. It was suggested that a ‘No Outlet’ sign be placed at the front entry to let outsiders know that there is no cut-through to other neighborhoods.

6.     REMC. A representative from the REMC passed out free lightbulbs to attendees and invited the group to take a look at their new electric fireplaces in the lobby on the way out.

The meeting adjourned at 7:52pm. The next meeting will be held on December 8th
