MINUTES OF THE
HIGHLAND OAKS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
Thanks to all who
attended the neighborhood association meeting on 9/10/02. We appreciate
everyone's input! For those of you who could not attend, the following is a
brief overview of what was discussed.
Improvements made to the front entrance were talked about. In an effort to make
the front landscaping more maintenance free, we replaced the mulch with rock. We
are pleased with the look and hope to replace the mulch in the island next year.
We're happy with the job Lawn Cure is doing spraying for weeds and bugs, but
we're unhappy with our current lawn mowing service and hope to replace them next
year.
A fall neighborhood yard sale is planned for October 19th. Call Jeanie Hammel at
945-3522, if you have a large item you want listed in the ad.
Volunteers are needed to help plan the chili cook-off! (date to be announced) We
plan to have a budget of $200 - $300 to help make this years event another
success and to make it easier on the planners! Please call Sue Glordan at
945-2401 if you'd like to help plan or if you have any suggestions on how to
make this a fun afternoon for everyone.
Mike Farrell gave the financial report. Of concern, 16 households have not paid
dues for this year. We'll be sending out another notice to these families before
the end of the year. If dues are still not collected, another reminder will be
sent in January with the 2003 bill. Due your part, pay your dues!! On a positive
note, we do have a money surplus this year and would like to use some of it to
pay down the note on the street signs and lights. Other plans include improving
the entrance to the park to allow access for larger equipment, which may be
needed for future improvements.
Robert Headrick announced that the developer is finished with the subdivision
and wants to dedicate it to the association. There was a discussion about
improvements that need to be made before we accept the dedication. There are
some holes in roads that need repair, some curbs are not handicap accessible,
and the drainage ditch at the end of Weatherby Way is full of sand. Robert is
following up on these problems.
There was also a short discussion about Northside Christian's plans to build
baseball diamonds on their Charlestown Rd property. Robert is looking into this
and will keep us informed.
It was agreed that the next Association meeting will be held in January. Watch
for signs at the entrance announcing the day.
