MINUTES OF THE HIGHLAND OAKS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
A regular meeting of the full association membership of the above association was called to order on September 8, 1998 at 7:10 p.m. by president Steve Hammel. This meeting was held at the Clark County REMC building, Sellersburg, Indiana. This was the third of 4 quarterly meetings scheduled for 1998. Apparently no minutes were recorded from the June 9, 1998 meeting (the secretary was not present). 1. DEVELOPMENT STATUS. Greg Furnish stated that the walking track would be paved beginning tomorrow morning (9/9/98). Work on new streets for Phase III will begin any day. A new house (contract) will begin construction at 4100 Inverness within a few days. Lots are still selling well. 2. ASSOCIATION ISSUES. Steve Hammel discussed various issues that the Association is struggling to deal with. Among these issues are maintenance of the front entryway (weeding, landscaping, etc.), voting methods, and officer term limits. The Association either needs more volunteers to help out or residents will need to provide more funds to cover various maintenance costs (water sealing the foot bridge to the park, weeding, etc.). Someone suggested holding ‘weeding parties’ to get residents involved in the maintenance of the entrance, and asking for volunteers to seal the bridge. 3. VOTING LOCATION. The location for residents to vote in the November elections was unsure, but consensus was that the proper location was the Prosser School. 4. SEWER RATES. It was pointed out that by contacting the local sewage company, residents could request to be placed on ‘summer water rates’, thereby lowering their sewage bills during the summer months. 5. SPEEDING. Residents expressed concern that speeding is still an issue in the subdivision. 6. RESTRICTIONS. Someone asked about whether the amendments which were voted on during 1997 ever made it into the restrictions. It was confirmed that they did. The meeting adjourned at 7:52pm. The next meeting will be held on December 8th. _______________________________________ Byron Graham Secretary |
